Camp Turner invites boys and girls ages 7 – 16 to sign up for WinterCamp 2011!
The Camp is located in the beautiful Quaker Area of Allegany State Park and runs
from Wednesday, December 28th at 10 am through Friday, December 30th at 6:00
pm.

A round trip bus is available with stops in Hamburg and Williamsville.

ATTN ALL CAMPERS, STAFF, and FRIENDS of Camp Turner!!!

Brother camper and now staff member, Dakota Ward really loves Halloween! This year our son is making his Annual Haunt a three-day affair at our home in Depew. Dakota will be supporting a couple of charities this year, one being the Friends of Camp Turner. Specifically, he will be selling T-shirts he helped design, and the proceeds will benefit a new CAMPERSHIP in the name o…f James P. Haley.

Beginning Saturday, October 29th, and repeating Sunday the 30th, and Monday the 31st, between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00pm – our home will be all about ghouls and ghosts. Won’t you come and join the fun?

We will be serving coffee, cocoa and warm apple cider, as well as some yummy baked goodies. Prepare to be scared or just come and hang out. We’d love to see all of our CT friends and visit in the beautiful fall weather! (And I’m sure it will make our zombies VERY happy, too!)

Admission is FREE but we are asking that everyone bring canned goods and non-perishable food items, as Dakota is also making a donation to the Food Bank of Western New York.

ALUMNI STAFF REUNION

WORK WEEK REPRISED ……Please RSVP to 354-4555 to attend the Annual Alumni Staff Reunion, July 1-3. Former Staff and immediate families are invited to come together, share photos and stories, help set up camp and greet the 2011 staff. Free lodging and meals if you RSVP. Come and go as you please. Service projects Saturday and through about 2 PM on Sunday. Commissioning mass will be Sunday July 3rd at about 4:30 PM.

We will send you a bundle of 50 or so to take to work, restaurants, doctor’s offices … wherever you go. (We already have Catholic schools, Rel. Ed. and libraries covered.)

2011 Membership Drive

Dear Friends,

It is that time of the year once again! “The Friends of Camp Turner, Inc”. is initiating our 2011 membership drive. We are once again requesting that you consider supporting our organization. If you are currently a FOCT member, we thank you for your generosity and are grateful for your continued support. If you have never donated, we would appreciate your first time, tax deductible donation.

Thanks to your generosity, in 2010, we were able to support 42 campers in attending a week at Camp Turner.

Here is a letter received from a camper that FOCT sponsored this past summer.

“I am extremely glad I was given a chance to go to Camp Turner. My friend told me a lot of stories of the fun times he had there. When he asked me to go I said I couldn’t because my family was short on money. I was offered a scholarship to go! I was so excited! I was so happy that people care about this kind of stuff.

I have a lot of fun memories at camp now too! I will never forget C.T. I want to thank everyone who made a donation! Going to Camp Turner really meant a lot to me. I made so many new friends and I can share stories with old friends. I loved camping under the stars, swimming and axe-manship! Camp Turner really helped me get through a lot of tough times too. It helped clear my mind. I really hope people continue to donate so they can help other kids as much as they’ve helped me.”

Dog Sled Races at Camp Turner

The public is invited to watch sled dog teams from all over the country compete on the snow covered trails in Allegany State Park around Camp Turner when the annual sled dog races are held February 5-6, 2011. Sprints begin at NOON on Saturday and Sunday. Have refreshments and warm up in Camp Turner’s Dining Hall. All proceeds from refreshment sales benefit Camp Turner.

*****Come to the “Meet the Mushers Supper”, Saturday 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm, Spaghetti with marinara sauce with meatballs, side salad, bread sticks. $7.00 adult and $4.00 child

Alumni….please recruit staff and campers

It’s that time of year again…staff hiring began January 1st and now camper registration is open! As Alumni of Camp Turner you are uniquely qualified to recommend camp to prospective staff or camp aged kids. Please talk about your camp experiences to others especially other families.

We are recruiting for camp staff aged 18+ for these positions:
Positions Available

We are also looking for RNs to work a week at a time and also a bus driver to work afternoons (CDL with school bus endorsement). (If you recruit a potential staff member please offer to be one of their references! Application and Reference Forms are links on Camp Turner’s website.)

Info about being a camper is also on the website. Campers can be boys or girls ages 7-15. Note the change this year where 16 year olds still have the opportunity to be campers during the TWO-WEEK CIT Program! The CIT Program is a leadership training program and a way to groom our potential staff for the summer of 2012! (The CIT Program also includes a three day backpacking trip!!!!!!!)

Remember that scholarship/campership forms are available under the link to the right, on this website. The Friends of Camp Turner continue to assist many, many campers in coming to camp each summer.

The entire Camp Turner family of former staff and campers thanks you for whatever help you can give us in recruiting staff and campers!!!
